Macworld is very profitable for a lot of people, as most trade shows are, but for us “normal people” there’s another great way to make some cash if you live in the bay area and don’t really want to attend Macworld. SFGate has posted an article about working at the booths during expo. If you check Craigslist, there are many company listings for various jobs taking part at the booths:
– Booth/Promo Girls Needed Tuesday thru Friday this week!
– Models needed. Macworld Booth Girls. Submissions without photos deleted. (Ouch!)
– Needed — Bouncer Type Males.
– Male and Female Spokesmodels Needed. (This seemed the most PC of the bunch.)
The pay ranged from $100 to $150 per model, per day; that’s $12.50 to $18.75 per hour, since the show floor was open for eight hours a day.
Sadly, though, the wage gap between men and women extends to booth babes: the “bouncer male types” were offered $150, but the Macworld booth girls were only offered $100. That is wack.
Thanks to TUAW for finding this one.
